These scones are easy to make and super yummy! I’ve set the recipe for two scones, but it can be easily scaled up as needed.
Fast & Easy Maple Oat Nut Scones
Quick, easy, delicious... a breakfast trifecta!
Servings 2 scones
Ingredients
- 70 g all-purpose flour (6 tablespoons)
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/3 cup oatmeal (if you like oats, make this a heaping 1/3 cup)
- 1/2 tbsp sugar
- 10 shelled, broken walnut halves
- 35 g melted, unsalted butter (2 1/2 tablespoons)
- 1 tbsp milk
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1/4 lightly beaten egg (about 2 tsp; save the rest for a day or two in the fridge or scramble it for a snack)
- 2 tbsp coarse sugar, to top the scones
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 195C / 385F
- Combine all dry ingredients and all wet ingredients separately
- Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients, and use a rubber spatula or spoon to combine fully
- Lightly flour work surface, and with floured hands divide dough into two roughly shaped balls
- Gently flatten each ball into a disk, about 3/4 inch thick
- Sprinkle generously with course sugar, firmly pressing it into the dough
- Carefully transfer scones, one at a time, to baking sheet lined with parchment
- Bake for 18 minutes (checking after 15 minutes) or until golden brown
- Cool on rack, but serve warm
