Fast & Easy Pita
Delicious pita in less than an hour
Servings 4 pita
Ingredients
- 200 grams bread flour
- 100 grams all-purpose floour
- 1¼ tsp instant yeast
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tbsp olive oil
- 180 ml warm water

Preparing the Dough
- Mix the dry ingredients thoroughly in a large bowl
- Add the olive oil and water and mix until the dough is assembled
- Scrape the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-10 minutes
- Divide dough into four equal pieces
- Using a rolling pin, flatten each piece of dough into a circle about 3mm thick
- Place each pita on a lightly floured baking tray (you will probably be able to fit two pita on each tray)
- Cover each tray gently with a damp dishtowel
- Preheat oven to 500F / 260C while letting pita rise in a warm spot for 30 min
Baking the Pita
- Uncover each tray, and carefully flip each pita over (you may need a thin, flat spatula for this step)
- Bake pita for 5-6 minutes. Pita should puff up nicely; remove them *before* they brown
- Remove from oven, place on a plate and cover with a dishtowel. (Pita may seem a bit hard but will soften nicely under the dishtowel.) Eat immediately.
